Lucia Guzman Wins Senate District 34 Vacancy Committee Election

Congratulations to Lucia Guzman, who was chosen to complete the State Senate term of Paula Sandoval in a special Vacancy Committee election Sunday afternoon.  Guzman was unopposed and won a vote by acclamation.
 
Senator Guzman will serve the remainder of the term, and the seat is up for election this November.  At the Senate District 34 Assembly in April, Senator Guzman was designated as a candidate on the August Democratic Primary ballot.  She was unopposed at the SD34 Assembly.  Representative Joel Judd is also expected to be on the primary ballot through the petition process.
 

Vacancy Committee Election
Senate District 34 will hold a Vacancy Committee Election on Sunday, May 16th to fill Senator Paula Sandoval's seat.  Senator Sandoval was elected to City Council on May 4, 2010. 
 
The Vacancy Committee includes all members of the Democratic Party of Denver Central Committee who reside in Senate District 34.  This includes Precinct Committee Persons, Senate District Officers, House District Officers, Sub-district Officers, Captains-at-Large, Democratic elected officials, Democratic National Committee members, Colorado Democratic Party officers, and Democratic Party of Denver officers, all of whom must reside in Senate District 34. 
 
Vacancy Committee Members will be sent an Official Call to the Meeting by Thursday, May 6th, via First Class U.S. Mail.  Members should expect to receive it by Monday, May 10th.
 
The Vacancy Committee Election will be held at SEIU Local 105 at 2525 W. Alameda Ave. in Denver.  The meetings is set to start at 1:30 p.m., with check-in starting at 12:30 p.m.
