Senate District 33 Vacancy Election Resource Page

Senate President Peter Groff has accepted an appointment in the Secretary of Education’s office as Director of The Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Center.  Sen. Groff will complete the current session in the Colorado Assembly and begin his new job in the Obama Administration the following week.

Senate District 33 will hold a Vacancy Committee election to fill the seat and complete the term.  The election is scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2009 at Smiley Middle School.  Members of the Vacancy Committee should have recieved notice in the mail regarding this election.  Details will be posted on this site as they become available.

Members of the Vacancy Committee include the members of the Denver County Central Committee who live in Senate District 33.

All of the declared candidates participated in a candidate forum to address the Vacancy Committee membes and the general public.  In addition to prepared statements, the candidates took questions from the audience and from the moderator, Democratic Party of Denver Chair Cindy Lowery.
